One more question?
Thanks Thomas & Neal for your programming help but I'm curious about another area. The answer may lie in the fact that we're in the middle of a transition. I've programmed Neal's Control Channel freqs in my 796D using the Butel 250785 Pro Software and I'm in ID SCAN mode. Am I supposed to be hearing the old VSLP radio frequencies and the encryption "noise" that goes along with it? If I lock these out won't I be giving up hearing activity on the channels I lock out? I AM getting West, Station B, Sheriff, & East Precinct.

For MPD and SC Sheriff program these control channels...
859.46250 860.23750 860.43750 860.46250
THEN, you should LOCKOUT control channels 860.43750 and 860.46250. These are currently the control channels for the VSELP system. That is why you are picking up those transmissions. If you lock out the control channels I stated above, then you should be set.
After the complete transistion to the new system and when the VSELP system is gone, those 4 control channels will all be correct and you will need to unlock those that are locked out. But for now, input them as I have stated above, and you'll be set.

Don't sweat it man!! All part of the learning process!! The Unidens, in my opinion, are somewhat harder to program right out of the box. For me at least. I just see it easier to program a radioshack scanner. But that's just me.

Got some more news on the system. East precinct is up and running. South Precinct should be up Tuesday followed by North Precinct on Wednesday.

yes indeedy. It came up when East Precinct was going crazy looking for two robbery suspects. Had the heli's and K-9s out looking. Shots fired. There was some good listening.

Yeah that was some good action in the South Kirby/ Raines area!! I here them serving an attempt pickup on Winter Park tonight which I believe is where some of the suspects possibly might be.So north is up now? i'll have to check it out,just got home from work.

What's Left To Come On The Air?
According to my tally, these are the precincts still to come online--Central, Downtown, Southeast and Northeast. Are the Southeast and Northeast actually operating precincts or are these the ones scheduled to open later? Memphispolice.org lists Northeast aka Appling Farms Station and Southeast aka Airways Sation on their website but was hoping lawenforcer or someone could confirm if they are actually operating? Also, what do the car codes start with? In other words, North is 100, South is 200, East is 300, etc.?

Yes the Northeast and Southeast are operational.

Central is 500

I'm still not happy with the audio quality. Varies depending on precinct and I can't say if I have noticed a real pattern. Garbled, underwater quality.
Using a PRO-96.
Anyone else of the same opinion?

I've noticed that the more marginal my signal is the worse it sounds. I don't think I would classify mine as underwater sounding but it definitely sounds "digital" if that makes any sense to you. When I'm inside the city limits it's perfect. When I'm in Desoto Co. it sounds a little weaker...but clearly understandable.
Now...I'm just waiting for some Memphis Fire to come aboard!!

900 #s are currently Traffic 900 would consist of STIS ( Special Traffic Investigation Squad) these are Sgts that investigate critical and fatal accidents. and STEU (Special Traffic Enforcement Unit) This is a Patrolman bid possission that is basically support for STIS and different traffic situations. Also on Taffic will be Motors (motorcycles) and DUI (Whiskey ) units.
There may be a change when the Hickory Hill Precinct AKA Ridgeway Station opens they may begin to use the 900 numbers?

1100 - 1900 are investigative units but I cannot remember which is which. I know 1600 is Felony Response. 1400 is Radio maintainence. All Bureaus run on Downtown/SMS
2300 Cars are Crime Response (CSI)
2700 Cars are VIce & Narcotics (OCU)
2900 Cars were Metro Gang until they were disbanded
3600 Cars are School Officers (OIS)
5600 Cars are Entertainment District Unit (EDU)
8600 Cars are Crime Prevention
There are a lot of other people on the system that we cannot hear but I guess if we are on the same system we must have a unique number I'll try to cind out more if there any questions PM me and I will fill any one in on the numbering scheme It woudl be great if someone could come up with a map of city wide wards. It would make things easier to understand.
