Mentor (Lake County)

I have been working in Lake County for the last few weeks and monitoring that system. My question is about the Mentor Police Department and their terminology. I noticed that units are either "Mary" or "David", followed by a number. Can anyone please tell me what the Mary and David stands for?

Good question. They dont use their actual car numbers so each shift they are assigned a number EX: David 1

David= Day shift - 1st
Adam= Afternoon 2nd
Mary= Midnight 3rd
