I had a long talk with one of the primary officials on the conversion to DTRS for mesa county.
Mesa County Sheriff has over 90 Hand-held units
Grand Junction has over 200 Hand-held units on order
there are units for all ambulances waiting to be programmed
some of the smaller fire departments have a few units or are waiting for grants or are hold-outs
One new tower is up in Grand Junction One new tower is in the works near the UT-CO BORDER
40 TALK GROUPS have been approved or applied for
Primary Talk Groups will not be Encrypted
SWAT-INVESTIGATIONS-SPECIAL TEAMS-DATA Will be Encrypted
most units will be in use by March 1 2010

Is the system going to be implemented county-wide on 3/1/2010? Or is it going to be phased in slowly?

Another question is are they going to keep all fire paging on vhf (to utilize all the currently operating pagers), or will that all be switched over as well?

Grand Junction FD is currently paged using an IP paging system, the old rf based system is still used as backup and tested once a week. Call-back pagers and command staff are still two-tone over the air.
Most of the outlying volunteer depts are still two-toned out over the air on Fire A, SO or their dept repeaters. I would guess that some of the hold-out depts are the ones that have their own VHF repeaters and interface with the BLM / Forest service. Carrying multiple radios doesn't make much sense and costs money that is pretty hard to come by.

Where did you log those? And/or when?
Have they been updated into the database?

Also Mesa CO Sheriff Disp and Tac

Along with Collbran Marshall. Clifton Fire.

However I do believe SO dispatch is under GJ PD Disp CH2 - I don't forsee 2 GJPD dispatch talkgroups.
SO Tac was listed under a Tac/Training talkgroup near bottom of the list.

I don't understand the purpose of 3 GJ Fire EMS Talkgroups
Nor do I get 4 GJ Fire FIre Tac Talkgroups.
Same with GJPD having 5 tacs.
Unless these will be used countywide?

2 SAR Talkgroups? Arent most SAR missions rural??

I have a bet some of these will have diffeent uses than whoever came up with this list unless they have some source that is involved with this.

I was told that there could be as many as 3 sar operations at a time in mesa county and the idiots at the state levels could not understand it any other way, I was also told that one would be used as a rural Deputies BS channel.
I was also told that central orchard fire has requested 5 fire tac channels, Lower Valley 5,Palisade 3

I also Don't understand 3 ems tac channels

Folks need to understand this is an initial fleet map provided by CCNC there will certainly be changes once they become operational but overall it's a great start to begin to log radio id's and therefor begin to identify new TG's or modifications.

For anyone that can I would suggest dedicating a scanner to logging (using Pro96Com) a local CC over the next few months 24/7 and you will glean lots of insight into the TG's being tested and the radio id's being used.

Currently (and mostly in testing and familiarization with various brands of radios)
Mesa County SO is using what CNCC has listed as GJPD 2. Most users of the channels currently refer to the TGs as "Law 1" ( GJPD has a couple of handhelds that the shift supervisors have been checking coverage), Law 2 (the rural deputies "George units" all have handhelds and are using the channel for a back channel and to check coverage)
As I stated previously, Lands End fire and Plateau Valley fire both have their own repeaters and do extensive coordination with BLM / Forest service, I have so far not heard any of their units testing the DTRS and they seem likely holdouts for VHF.
Mesa County SARC has three DTRS handhelds issued to them at this point with Law2, SAR and Mesa MAC as well as the state MAC list programmed in. The radios are issued to the on-call SAR coordinators for coordination with the George units.
Road and bridge has three or four mobiles installed in supervisor trucks (sounds like mostly in the Mesa, Collbran area) that they have used for project coordination and some interface with the CDOT trucks in the area.
The Inmate transport TG is getting some use as well.
EMS tac channels are a good place holder and with the number of fire depts in the area may come in handy.
It is always easier to leave a TG unused than it is to get another one assigned and if you have ever tried to look 5 to 10 years into the future to decide what a whole county's communication needs are going to be, it looks like the coordinators came up with a good starting point list and will be refining it as they go.

These are (mostly) all listed to Grand Junction agencies as the Grand Junction regional communications center is coordinating the project. They get the TGs assigned to them with a basic understanding of how they plan to use them and the State coordinator is happy not having to do individual requests and assignments.

Hey Encryption used the way it should be. Glad they are not following the path of some of their corrupt neighbors.

Although, if DATA is the warrant check channel, that's a little over the top IMHO, but, oh well.

I have picked up testing on GJ PD-2 (8432), GJ PD DTF (8435) and MESA CO MAC (8430) over the last couple days. Nothing more then a tech saying "test" into the radio though.

NW net will come and go although as nearly as I can tell is not in GJ central dispatch yet.
Some rural deputy traffic on Law 2
a bit of traffic on SAR
The courthouse TGs are being used for prisoner transport.
And the last couple of days the Investigations encrypted TG has been quite active.
Mesa Mac has several test radios out with various fire depts and local agencies.
