Mesa feed ONLINE

OK, I couldn't just give up on it, so in desperation I took the router out of the equation. Voila! She works!

If you get an error, you may need to try again a little later. I had no idea Mesa had so many fans, but when I announced this in the AZ yahoo group 113 people descended on it all at once. That's fantastic, but I can only handle 25 at a time. But I did get at least 3 email reports from folks that said it's working, so if you've tried connecting several times or about an hour or two and still get errors please let me know. That means I might still have a problem, or the dynamic IP my ISP assigns me has changed or something like that.

I'm also soliciting other volunteers in the area to help me build a collection of feeds that will allow us to stream the whole system. Right now I'm only streaming about 1/5th of the total potential this system has. If you have a BC296, 796 or 396 (or a PRO-96/2096 will work too, you just won't be able to alpha tag the feed), a broadband connection, can receive one of these sites:

Simulcast A or B (Phoenix)
Simulcast C (Tempe/Chandler)
Simulcast E (West Valley)
Sky Harbor Intellirepeater

and would like to host a feed for it, please PM me here or email me at pbsmalley@cox.net. I'd like to put together a website with links to the feeds, system and agency info, feed tutorials and more for use by the media and other hobbyists who want to listen to the new system but can't afford $500 for a scanner, or don't live close enough to receive the part of the system they are interested in.

I'll be building the website over the next few days to give folks an idea of what I want to do.

This is really cool. I use the "XMPlayer" as my audio player. When running in the minimum mode, I get a little pop-up at the bottom of the screen telling me which agency is broadcasting. So Cool!!!!!

Quick question. What reciever are you using? Since Phx has pretty much moved to the new system, I need to upgrade. I'm debating between the Pro-96 and the BC-396. I like the sound quality that you are streaming, so depending on what radio you use, will be a big factor in my decision.

The scanner is a Uniden, a BC796. Believe me when I tell you it takes A LOT of tinkering to get the audio to sound that good with the PRWN system. Sometimes, as you probably have heard, even then the scanner goes bonkers if there's any drop in signal quality.

My PRO96 decodes the audio with less squawking fits, but it drops comms more than the 796 does. I'm waiting to see if the 996 will work any better when it comes out, if so I might upgrade. I've heard good things about the 396 too, but even that scanner has fits with this system sometimes.

I've noticed too that even with the router out of the loop, I'm still having reports of people unable to connect, like FLANO reported. I wish I knew what the deal is with that. More bad news too, I'll have to hook the router back up again soon - the wife is complaining that she can't use her computer anymore. "I thought this was only temporary! When are you gonna fix my computer", etc. Yes dear, I'll get to it....

I've told her I'll get her computer back up and running this weekend, so if anyone has any tips on getting this feed past a Linksys WRT54G router, please let me know ASAP so I can hopefully keep the stream running. If not, then I might go the teamspeak route, perhaps that will get past the router. I'll update the group regardless, but expect the feed to go down for a few hours this weekend. Sorry guys!
