In Texas most of the aviation activity will be on 122.925 or the regional AM air band zone frequencies and statewide air-to-ground frequencies at

If you are 100 miles away you will likely have difficulty hearing anything without a good outdoor antenna.
Sometimes fires have a
TFR with a specific contact frequency listed.
The aircraft mainly communicate with TFS supervisors on the ground on the air-to-ground frequencies (159.300, 151.385). You won't hear aircraft on the national interop frequencies that much but you will hear the TFS supervisors and local FDs.
You probably won't hear anything on the NIFC frequencies unless the fire is so big that they bring in a federal incident management team.
