I am trying to use Metadata and can't get it to work. Please see my config below. It always says "Scanning" and nothing else. Even when receiving. What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like ProScan is not communicating with the scanner.

SDS100 connected via audio cable to computer line in. Do I need the USB connection also?
Yes you do. It's needed for the text tags(metadata), virtual display, remote control, logging, etc.
A serial port driver needs to be installed. See this web page and the section on "Windows Serial Drivers". BCD536HP < UnidenMan4 < TWiki
The link is written for the BCD536HP but it's the same driver for the SDS100.
