Living in Michigan's Upper Peninsula dictates that a metal roof is a wiser choice than climbing the ladder and using a snow rake to get rid of snow build up. My question is how is the metal roof going to affect scanner reception? Placing an antenna in the attic doesn't seem wise but what about outside mounting? I've installed an outside TV antenna that's barely 4 ft. above the roof edge that is giving me excellent reception 90 miles from the station towers. Scanner reception is limited to about a 25 mile radius of my home because of geography and population centers.
