How does one match up an ID in the format of 1810 with one in the format of 14-022? Why are different formats used (especially in databases)?

1810 is the decimal version of the Uniden AFS (agency/fleet/subfleet) listing.
Since there are 2048 possible talkgroups (16 agencies * 16 fleets * 8 subfleets)
you can work it out mathematically.

ie:
1810 / 2048 = .8837890625

16 * .8837890625 = 14.140625 [Agency 14]
16 * .140625 = 2.25 [Fleet 02]
8 * .25 = 2 [Subfleet 2]

That's how we get 14-022 as the talkgroup in AFS mode!

Thanks Charlie....For the explanation. It would be good if one format would be used in the various databases...just would make things easier.
