Metro Area EDACS I-CALL

The scanner half of my brain is trying to convince the financial half that I should buy one of the new BC246T scanners when they are available. I was thinking that I-CALL could be a compelling reason (among others), but I wonder how much of this type communication actually goes on in the metro area. Anybody with an I-CALL capable scanner in the metro area have any insight?

In Denver, I-Calls happen a lot! I'm trying to decide which HT to buy myself. I HATE battery packs. Also, most of the time when a supervisor, etc. wants to be 100% discreet, they simply say "Call me on my Nextel".

Lots of I-call traffic on Denver but much of it is just the cops trying to ask the dispatchers out, much less on Lakewood.

No I-call on the DTRS.

You sure can go wrong by visualizing female dispatchers by voice.

The one I thought sounded at least as good as AMBER, (you remember AMBER--right?) well anyway when some guys pointed her out to me I wuz shocked--

At least I didn't have to gnaw my arm off to get away--

Thanks guys! It sounds like it might be fun to have I-Call capability. Even if they're just asking out the dipatchers, it might be interesting listening. :twisted: What about Arvada/Westy, do these guys use I-Call much?

Ah, come on! Don't ruin it for me. I've been listening to this Adams County dispatcher for awhile and I'm convinced she MUST be Amber.

I haven't listened to A & W in a while, but when I did, I don't recall ever hearing them mention I-CALL (same with Lakewood). Lakewood has at least 2 talkgroups that are digital 95% of the time. I think they are 04-034 & 04-035 ???????????????

Some agencies often use nextel for icall's. I know this is true for Douglas County, Arapahoe County, and Englewood police depts. I even think some of the South Metro/Douglas Fire cheifs use nextel as well.

Yes indeed Steve once you have experienced direct connect you will never turn back, metro area fire and EMS departments certainly use it extensively.
