Recently there have been a few drills testing out the new regional fire & ems strike teams / task forces in the metro area. The drills will be conducted on a regular basis including once per day this week. I thought I would share those details for those that haven't heard of this before. There are 6 different groups....

Boulder (Boulder Rural, City of Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, Longmont & Mountian View)

West (West Metro, Golden, Arvada, Fairmount & Wheat Ridge)

Douglas / Elbert (Castle Rock, Larkspur, Elizabeth, Franktown, Rattlesnake, Jackson 105)

North (Thornton, Westminster, Brighton, North Metro, North Wash, Fed Heights & SWAC)

Denver (Denver Fire only)

Southeast (Littleton, Englewood, Aurora, South Metro, Cunningham & Buckley)

Each group will assemble a Striketeam / Taskforce Leader and a group of resources depending on the needs of the requesting agency & incident. This includes structural, wildland, wildland interface and medical teams. The Network First Red Channels are typically used for coordination and 8Tac's for travel between units in the teams. The idea mirrors the California concept of pre-determined strike teams that can quickly assemble & respond to surrounding counties for mutual aid assistance.
