New to all this and looking for help, I have a BCD996XT and downloaded metrosafe for Jefferson county from RR. I was wanting to listen to just one division as they are divide as Adam,Baker,Charlie and David. I want to listen to David only at times but it seems like they all share the same frequencies. Can this be done? Thanks

I have sent you a Personal Message which hopefully answers your question along with some other information.

When you programmed your scanner, did you do it by hand or use one of the software programs?

Also, did you set this up as a conventional or trunked system?

When the term "frequencies" is used, it sounds like it may have been set it up as a conventional system. On trunked systems, frequencies and talkgroup ID numbers are used. On conventional systems, only frequencies are used. You can hear a trunked system by programming it as a conventional system, but it doesn't follow the conversations as they hop from frequency to frequency, which a trunked system is all about.

"David" district is an old Jefferson County Police district. It has been replaced by the Louisville Metro Police 3rd division. The talkgroup ID number you want to listen to is 2 - that is the one used in Southwest Jefferson County and Eastern Jefferson County. (This is comparable to the old JCPD days of David and Adam district frequencies in the old radio system).

I programmed it with the software and thought I did by trunk system. I am getting Police 1,2, 3 and 4 but all of them seem to be using the same frequencies. I just got the radio a few days ago and have not got in to it very much. So much different from the old analog system. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I was a little dissapointed in the speaker but I guess its just the digital part of it. I did replace the standard antenna with a 800 mhz and seemed to help some.

Thanks
