Mexico trip w/HT's

Wifey & I are heading to Cabo end of August to spend a week with a good buddy down there, and being the licensed amateur radio operator that i am, wanting to operate 2m/70 cm simplex comms, while in country, plan to take a couple cheapo HT's along.

However, i have been searching the innerweb of things and am unable to find reliable and/or current intel on whether i can legally take said radios into Mexico?

So, my question for my esteemed operators is this?

Does anyone have a clue about this?

Last I heard (about 6 months ago) Mexico was not giving permission for foreign operators to use radios inside the country.

With all the stuff going on in Mexico and I live only 10 min from the border I would not take a radio that transmit including(Ham) radio......

I will take my county comm gp-5 ssb sw receiver....
