<sigh> As I mentioned in the Michigan forum, your 2 best bets are to join the Worldwide Utility News server and to see if the Michigan Area Radio Enthusiasts (MARE) group is still around.
You need to be aware that HF frequencies (note the spelling :.)) don't propagate the way a VHF or UHF signal does. There will be times when a signal might skip right over you, even tho you might be close enough to otherwise hear it. Propagation on HF is a funny thing sometimes.
If they're still around the various 2 mhz Great Lakes marine services would be a good start. I would also check the various lists (hurricane, and the top 1000 frequencies). The HF-GCS freqs are a standard to check, as well as the various ICAO frequencies for aero traffic. Again, with the exception of the MARE group, all of these are linked on the Utility Listening wiki. Just click on 'Wiki' in the top toolbar. You'll be taken to the main page, and you can get to the Utility wiki from there.

Thanks Mike I know what you mean I have looked at all the info you sent and am working with it, I was just curious if anyone has anything on like local Coastguard and Mil-Air over our area that are active..Right now I am listening to some 80-meter ham stuff on 3854, I am very interested in some air traffic and maybe just park on that frequency for a while if I know it is active..
