I was traveling back from Missouri on I 44 about five days ago and could not get both the Miami and Vinita sites on my SDS100.

I reprogrammed the sites as listed specifically in RR, and it did seem to start trunking again.

have there been changes with these sites?

I don't know the details but I believe they went to a Nexedge system in that area. I live in SW Missouri and sometimes monitor NE OK, but I haven't lately. The problem is I don't think there must be a lot of scanner activity down there because the RR DB rarely updated.

We follow some NE OK stuff on our local scanner FB group. One of our members did log RAN IDs on some 800 band frequencies back in June.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a Nexedge system?
can it be programmed on a SDS 100 or 200?

I don't know anything about ANY OKWIN systems going NXDN, it's a networked APCO P25 system, so don't see how that would work very well.

I just pulled up the Vinita OKWIN site, it's currently broadcasting on control channel 852.5875 and I'm hearing radio traffic.
I can't verify Miami's site, as I'm out of range of it.

If you are using a SDS type scanner that has NAC enabled and the site NAC doesn't match what is in the database then maybe you won't be able to receive anything. It's something you should check.

Several OKWIN sites had NAC changes recently. I don't know if Vinita and Miami changed and didn't make it to the database yet.

Just to clarify OKWIN is not going NXDN, but Ottawa County has elected to install its own separate NXDN systems. Separate but in several cases patched from OKWIN TGs to their system: Ottawa County Public Safety Trunking System, Miami, Oklahoma Most likely it was installed by Smith Two Way which has a lot of NXDN sites on their own system in the area. These sites are co-located at the OKWIN sites.

So which sites, specifically, are now “NXDN” systems — and why the transition?

No OKWIN sites are going NXDN.. I think I may have confused you. Ottawa County was strictly on OWKIN but has elected to go on their own NXDN system. However they are patching some traffic from OKWIN, which I guess would be the Miami site (OKWIN). Your best bet is to monitor the NXDN system if you want to hear Ottawa County traffic.

Ok. It is just a little unusual that a site would convert to this type of system, and no other site in the state of Oklahoma would…

thank you for your help

@Drkatzjr45 - there is NO CONVERSION> this is an independent decision by some strong-minded folks in a local county.
OKWIN is not changing, the locals have just built their own NXDN system and patched OKWIN into it.

Just like Broken Arrow did in the early 800 days and went to EDACS INSTEAD of the Motorola 800 system that was rolling out.
