Hello there, so today we had the monthly tornado siren test. I did get footage of the tones going out for the siren. There was a few initial ones im guessing to start the sirens and then after a minute or so there was another tone which stopped them I believe. After that there was a third tone which i don't know what was for. The first two tones cut out but im sure somebody could understand what it was. It was on our fire dispatch

During the day a few weeks ago I heard some dmtf codes going off, I believe it was possibly a different county siren test. I was guessing we had the dmtf but I wasnt sure. But now I know

Huntington county uses that same frequency, PL tone 141.3, and they have 3 repeaters throughout the county that they activate a store-and-forward, recording/rebroadcast system, individually on those 3 repeaters for paging fire depts, via DTMF.

That was probably what I heard. And every now and then I do here two two pages possibly from the county too? Because there is no dispatch after the tones go off.

And they are tones ive never heard before. And thank you for sharing your knowledge @west-pac. I tried to record the dmtf tones the day I heard them but I was unsuccessful. I heard around 5 or 6 each 30 or 1 minute after each other.

Huntington county's repeaters use 4 DTMF tones, similar to dialing 4 digits on a telephone, then the two-tone is sent, then dispatch speaks the message.

Henry county, specifically Knightstown and Middletown, uses 154.430Mhz also, and, I believe, they use DTMF tones as well.

Very interesting. I will try and listen to it again and successfully record it. And hopefully I figure more out about the pager tones I hear.
