If there were to be some sort of disaster in the Wayne County area, what are some of the must-have frequencies? I'm trying to get an idea of the different agencies that we have and how they would communicate and coordinate.

So far I have the RACES\SkyWarn frequencies, Red Cross VHF Low band frequencies, the 5 or 6 HF frequencies listed in the database under the State of Michigan for EMD\EOC, and the statewide PD\FD Freqs.

I know the MPSCS has many EMD talkgroups. Will the state still use the HF frequencies? Has anyone ever heard the Red Cross use the low-band system in Michigan, or will they be solely on the MPSCS?

I know there has to be more. I have nothing for Wayne County EMD. None of the local TRSs seem to have EMD\EOC talkgroups. What about frequencies used to communicate with the MNG, US military, CAP, etc.?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Michigan Nat'l Guard is on the MPSCS system. Wayne and Macomb Counties are going to the MPSCS system. Anytime they use multiple agencies, I've usually hear them on the EVENT talk groups. Also Warren has a special RV that can connect to another departments radio and patch it to Warren's Special Event TG.

In the past, if such an event would to have happened, they would have primarily used:

155.865 MEPSS, also listed in many radios as the "Metro Disaster" Freq.
154.295 State DNR Fireground
154.265 Intercity Fireground
453.550 Detroit PD Citywide

Now with the advent of multiple trunked radio systems operating within the county, this opens up many new possibilities that were not available several years ago.

Yes, the HF frequencies are used to communicate with other states, and FEMA during a large scale disaster. They are good to have programmed into your radio just in case something happens. In addition, I have heard the Red Cross numerous times on 47.420 MHz. may times from Ann Arbor and in Detroit. However, they do plan on moving to the MPSCS at some point in the future. Currently, many of the Red Cross chapters across the state have access to Nextel radios, but I have no idea as to how often they use that system.

Actually, all of the trunked systems do have talkgroups for their local EMD/EOCs, but since they have not been identified; thus, no listing for them exists yet.

All of the agencies on 800 MHz. have the following International Mutual Aid analog frequencies programmed into them:

866.0125 ICALL
866.5125 ITAC1
867.0125 ITAC2
867.5125 ITAC3
868.5125 ITAC4

There are a whole serious of federal frequencies used for "intercoordination" purposes to promote interoperability among two groups: law enforcement and other agencies. They have a group of frequencies in the VHF and UHF bands each. I would have these programmed into the radio as well:
