Bloomfield Township and the city of Birmingham are discussing combining the two municipalities’ public safety dispatch centers.
In the past few weeks, the two municipalities have had informal discussions about whether such a move is feasible.
“We’ve only had a few discussions at this point,” Valentine said. “There is no definitive timeline that we are working through. Both parties are really just in the (early) phases.”
There are 13 employees at the Bloomfield Township public safety dispatch center, including 12 dispatchers and one supervisor. The Birmingham dispatch center is housed at City Hall and employs six dispatch professionals.
