Microsoft actively urges IE6 users to upgrade

Microsoft has begun a campaign to actively urge users of its 8-year-old Internet Explorer 6 browser to upgrade.

After launching IE 8 in March, Micosoft has concurred with critics that IE 6 is outdated. Many people have dropped the older browser, but the remaining users are often the tough cases--those who don't have a choice because of corporate computing policy or who aren't tech-savvy enough to realize there's a reason to move on. It's this latter population Microsoft is targeting with a campaign that runs through June 2010 that touts its own IE 8 as a better alternative. [more]

They are just trying to create fear,etc....... (NOT SURPRISING AS WITH IE8 THEY HAVE THE MOST CONTROL OVER PEOPLE)

I love IE6,it is the best of the series in my opinion! (Looks MUCH BETTER than 7 or 8 which are big steps down in development!)

IE 6.0 full of security holes

There are alot of security issues with IE6.0 . Enjoy it until you become crippled with malware. I would love to scan your computer with ComboFix or Malware bytes to see how far gone your system is now.
MicroSoft is too laxed when it comes to keeping your computer secure. And to be sure Ie 8.0 is to be prime target for malware writers so maybe ur safer with IE 6.0 anyway LOL. No kidding.

Of course it is for evil reasons.

There is no way it could be because IE6 has many security issues and bugs,
and that all development has stopped on IE6,
and that the cost of maintaining support on an obsolete product is a drain on resources,
and the longer it is in the field, the longer they have to test new products for compatibility,
and compatibility issues may be affecting other products, and raising their support costs.

Nah, it can't be any of those things. It has to be they like making your life miserable just for the fun of it.
After all, that is what has served them so well for over 30 years now.

And it has NOTHING to do with the fact that developers often have to significantly recode websites to render correctly in it. :roll:

Yeah You got good point. IE6.0 could be made even better but that doesn't make em alot of money does it. Instead of built in obsolescents now it's forced in deeper and deeper. LOL

I'm not sure who you got IE6 from - but if they charged you a penny, you were overcharged. Same with IE7 and IE8. They don't make MS any money either. They are FREE!
