I've been wondering about that myself, I do a couple Discards a day and it always comes back.

Maybe they are using RAS as several other sites are using 454.2500 as a CC, sites 2 (Cornwall), 14 (Concordville), 44 (Wilkes-Barre), 45 (Boyertown) and 46 (Ashland)

My understanding of RAS is quite limited, But based upon what I've read thus far (searching the forums) is that it's use on this site could indicate some unauthorized:poop:radios may have attempted to/or were successful (for a time) to use this site (non-paying subscriber).. And this is a TRIANGLE countermeasure to stop it..

Never seen that before. Interesting. Off topic, but do you know of other active freqs on that site? The DB only lists the control channel, and I'm sure there are other active freqs. The last repeater map that anybody obtained and dispersed showed:

  • LCN = 1 TX = 454.25000 RX = 459.25000 DCC = 10 CC
  • LCN = 2 TX = 464.30000 RX = 469.30000 DCC = 10 CC
  • LCN = 3 TX = 464.60000 RX = 469.60000 DCC = 10 CC
  • LCN = 4 TX = 454.47500 RX = 459.47500 DCC = 10 CC
So I'm wondering if you are able to verify that any of the additional freqs are actually in use?

I see the DB doesn't have 11 listed as a neighbor of 43, so I'm going to make that minor edit in the DB.

Thanks

Mike

Only activity I've copied in the past was 454.2500, I've been watching the other 3 starting at 8pm on 9/22 and not a peep of dmr on any of those 3. 464.3000 NFM is used by school buses in my county, Berkeley County WV. The majority of the traffic using talkgroups that have been positively identified on 454.2500 is TG 4411 (Rabbit Transit Franklin County PA) and TG 4202 (Rabbit Transit York County PA Paratransit)

No firm location has been put forth for site 31?

Right. There are other online sites that aren't in the DB. Check the wiki for more information.

When they are using all 454 mhz freqs, it's much more difficult to figure out where they really are.

Here are the "unknown" sites. The frequencies / LCNs are from the last repeater map that was received/reported by somebody. Sites listed as online below are believed to be online by me (because I believe I've collected data on all of the ONLINE sites, either directly or via friends who sent me info).

I've recently started looking for some of the unknown sites in my general area. From Clark's Knob in Franklin County PA I am able to decode Sites 31, 34, and 35. I have updated the neighbor lists in the wiki based on what I received here. I did not receive Site 36 from here.

Yesterday when driving around trying to map out signal strengths for the sites, I am fairly confident I have located Site 35 as Butler Knob in Huntingdon County PA. From the grocery store parking lot in Orbisonia I was getting a strong signal from the site and there is line of site directly to Butler Knob. I drove to the top of the knob and verified very strong signal and was still decodable on my SDS100 with no antenna attached from within the vehicle. Received on 454.15625 with color code 3. There was no traffic on the system, so I was unable to verify LCNs.

I also was receiving Site 31 during my drive, but need to look closer at my notes to see if anything can be concluded. Nothing from Site 34 except from Clark's Knob for me so far.

I may have made some progress on Site 31, but a location is still not apparent to me. The strongest signal I have observed was from above and east of McConnellsburg, PA on Aughwick Road. I had signal near McConnellsburg and Hustontown, but it was spotty, and the primary coverage for these areas would be from the McConnellsburg and Butler Knob sites, respectively. It seems Site 31 is at a more distant and perhaps higher profile location.

From the coverage maps, there is a Broadtop site shown, which from the map appears to be near Broad Top City, PA. I'm having trouble reconciling that as Site 31 since I had only weak signal from US 30 atop Sidling Hill, and along the roads towards Waterfall, PA from there. On the wiki, Broadtop is attributed to Pine Grove Mills. Broad Top City is also relatively close to Butler Knob. Perhaps it was changed out as the network expanded.

Based on gaps in the map, southern Bedford county and northwest of Huntingdon may be good candidates for the unknown sites.

I believe I have found sites 31 and 34.

For site 31, I have found it to be in Bedford county in the area of N40.12825 W78.17004 with strong signal received with no antenna on my SDS100. This corresponds to the “Broadtop” site location on the MADRN coverage map. There are several towers in the area: PA-STARNET FULT05, Penelec Reichley, New Enterprise REC Enid Mountain, Bedford County, and another one unlabeled but with an ASR registered as OP Communications. The signal seemed strongest near the New Enterprise tower.

For site 34, I have found it to be at Loop Lookout on the Blair/Huntingdon county lines between Williamsburg and Huntingdon. From the parking area at the bottom of the gated access road approximately half a mile to the towers I was able to decode the signal without antenna and with good strength using my SDS100.

These locations make sense for the known site neighbors.

I'm curious if this system follows the same Talkgroup and RID/UID numbering process as my nearby KS/MO Moto system does: MotoNet CP+ (DMR) Trunking System, Various, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies
Most TGs are 610#### like 6100001 or 6108501 with a few TGs in the 200#### like 2001501. RIDs start with the first character 1 less than the TG, so TG: 6100001 and RID 6510001 and on from there by up to 1000 RIDs.
Curious if this TG and RID assignment is a Moto Connect PLus thing, potentially allowing for roaming.
thanks

Site 41 - Pittston/Dupont appears to no longer be online. Been that way for a few months now

Anyone close to Tannersville, Monroe County PA able to get LSNs for 460.975, WREW662? I caught this as a control channel for Site 24 during my tropo ducting UHF scans last night. I don't want to simply assume 7 & 8. RRDB will need to be updated with this info.

Possibly LSNs 9 & 10, LCN 5 going by the txt doc Brent provided in post #548?

Possibly, but that's an ancient repeater map he is referencing. Somebody needs to park on one of the sites for a month [or until they are able to collect an updated repeater map].
