BTW where are all the Andrews C-32 types? Haven't seen any in a while.. secretly grounded?
The only one logged the last 10 days was #99-0004 which came in from Europe today and before that it was AF-2 and EXEC-1F in early March.
Various WH factions fighting for this tail :)
99-0004 is the only one currently in service. Flying as VENUS94 today.

99-0003 arrived at ATL earlier this month for probably months of mx work w/ Delta.

98-0002 is at Greenpoint Technologies in Washington State.

98-0001 is stuck in Amman, Jordan after flying the SECDEF a few weeks ago. Likely suffered some serious mx issue that's keeping it on the ground.

Lot of aerial mapping/surveying going on around here. Clear skies, trees with no leaves/brush/snow so makes
it a good time for that.Must be good money in that in sales to developers,Local Govts etc.

This was posted on another list. Thought some of you might be interested:

The UHF WBFM system known as North Star is no longer being funded. It use continues on a limited basis probably until the antiquated equipment fails. Primary communications are now via MILSTAR and the new Advance Extra High Frequency satellite system.
Autovon was renamed the Defense Switching Network in the 1990’s, and has greater voice and data capabilities.
As I recall, Combat Ciders was a set of circuits that provided support for AF-1 back in the VC-135 days. The support was via airborne UHF WBFM circuits provided by SAC communication/command post aircraft. That system fell by the wayside with the end of the Cold War and the use of the VC-25 which had superior communications capabilities. The VC-25 continued to use WBFM system until five years or so ago when they received additional satcom capabilities. The E-6 and E-4B have also received communication upgrades which reduced the need for the antiquated WBFM system. I have monitored the system since the 1980’s and there has been dramatic reduction in its use over the past few years.
