Rare 747 around here today. UPS1550 N609UP B-748 just inbound McGuire and "will depart with Camber callsign".
The UPS 748 monsters usually do long Pacific/Europe runs but not seen often around here.Mostly we get the B747-400 types.

1750 local hearing A/A coms on 252.800 unknown but have as A-10 Tigers A/A from Moody.

Philadelphia still gets the B748 since they are an international sort hub....but UPS still operates the MD10 and MD11 so they take some of the long haul stuff too. Once the Airbus and MDs are retired then Boeings will be the only aircraft type around.

Rgr when I was at Tampa airport a few weeks back there was a purty UPS-MD/DC-10 parked there.
Prob for Carib/South American work.. Sure looked huge next to mostly B-737's :)
I don't think Philly ever gets B748's..always B306 types and occasional MD-10's.

Dyess B-1's/C-130J's relocating.. Wish they would stop here :)

I hate to contradict but I got photo evidence of UPS 748s, and plenty of MD11s at PHL during the DEC Cargo Push! The Few Fedex MD10s left are coming to an end.

I didn't say anything about MD-11's not being in Philly. As for UPS B748's a one Month cargo push is not regular B748 service.
Lets see those pics. I stand by my statement that UPS B748's are very rare around here thats all.No biggie.

Here are all current B748's flying.. None are near or into Philly. KPHL Intl cargo footprint is tiny compared to other major airports.

They fly one to Germany.....

most of the lift anymore is moving to the newer Boeing 767-300 freighters.....more flexible than the 747 or the MDs and larger than the 757 and Airbus

Wow.. didn't know that.. Thanks.. Cologne seems to be very popular UPS B748 hub! My Bad..DOH!
Just I have been following Dover/McGuire for years and have never seen or logged a UPS-748 into either.
I'm sure I have missed a few but still very rare.Must be important cargo.Say on inbound CP will depart as CMB437.

Low altitude night jumps for sure.. TINCAN C-17 in there now at low alttitude. :)
I’ve noticed extra activity at times in the last week with Jill and TinCan flights. I’m about to upgrade my antenna systems but I’m not sure there’s much I can to to pick up low level flights that far away, I’m just north of Charlotte. I’m considering installing a remote SDR rx station at my mom’s in union county which might provide more opportunity.

Any idea on a few go-to freqs in use for the Ft Bragg Ops as a starting point? I have what’s in the RR database but have never been able to verify anything from my QTH.

Thanks,

Jon

Have never been able to pick them up, but my antennas are the worst. Others have reported they operate in the low MHz range. Check out this thread for past posts.

Trying again to launch that3D printed Methane/Ox rocket again tonight at the Cape.
Betting folks say it won't launch.. Close up views it looks like hunk of junk but will see
Someone said this rocket has more holds than Hulk Hogan :)
Next target launch time 11:05PM after another boat gets out of the way.
