With the delivery of another KC-46A to McGuire today tried to figure out how many KC-10A's are still assigned to the 305th AMW or even Active.

28 total still in-service.
30 Total stored
1 on display (Dover AFB)
20 60th AMW
8 305th AMW (but I believe another went to the bone yard earlier this week)
Boeing confirming McGuire's 13th KC-46A delivery.

There was some tanker confusion this morning as they also scrambled BANKR-99 along with BANKR-21.
BANKR-99 said we were originally supposed to be BANKR-22 but they gave us 1 hour notice to depart..
So we have two tankers working CAP and trying to figure out how to juggle their fuel.

Did you ever wonder why we see altitude references sometimes in "feet" and sometimes in "FL" (Flight Level). I have. So I went searching and found:

"For example, flight levels (FL) are used at and
above 18,000 ft MSL (e.g., FL 180) to indicate levels of constant atmospheric pressure in
relation to a reference datum of 29.92 inches of mercury (inHg)."

It's on page 7 -- bullet #4 -- of the PDF "AC 61_107B with change 1" at the bottom of AC 61-107B - Aircraft Operations at Altitudes Above 25,000 Feet Mean Sea Level or Mach Numbers Greater Than .75/ with Change 1

It applies to U.S. airspace only.

For those interested in TACAMO WBFM

Posted on another list

241914Z Mar 2023
338.950 NFM active in data transmission
242036Z Mar 2023
383.550 NFM active in data transmission

---
Nice catch, I haven't heard any analog WBFM in quite a while. I did just have a pass of E-6B WHIRL 55 (164387) & he was transmitting digital WBFM on 319.875 MHz. 03/26/2023 at 1416 UTC.

Hey all,

First time posting here, but I’ve been lurking since about December. I saw this yesterday on approach to KNTU NAS Oceana. No markings except an American flag, no serial number or registration. Photo time stamps indicate it spent about an hour at or around KNTU, approached 1550, departed 1650, but it didn’t show up on ADSB. C-32B Gatekeeper?View attachment 138915
