A Kiowa crew stopped in for lunch at KMRB while we were there.

Then this Pilatus PC-12 parked under the restaurant window and the crew came in for lunch. They’re from Hurlburt Field, FL.

And there’s a crew across the field reassembling a helo that came in midday in the bay of a C-17.
Seems Special Ops folks down the road will replace most of the the U-28A/PC12 types and MC-12's with the OA-1K armed Air Tractor
or A-1 for short. Can be disassembled in one day for transport on C-17's and It can snoop and shoot at same time :)

USSOCOM’s Armed Overwatch Aircraft Designated OA-1K - Soldier Systems Daily

Potus CAP up with NOBLE-11 and NICE-14 KC-46 as tanker A/R 231.625.

I was able to catch PIRATE51 refueling FOIL37 over Raleigh in AR207 heading southbound around 1300. It’s always a gamble if they turn to the east or west when they get to the entry point over RDU. If they go east I can usually see them from home as in this case.

I was somewhat surprised it was a single ship for both tanker and receiver. I’ve catch them before with 2-3 tankers and 2 receivers rotating through.

Socom I believe as Hunter99 doing a T&G at KAVP
Moving on to next unknown stop.. Nice catch.. N581PC Flight Tracking and History - FlightAware
Those U-28A/PC-12's are cool planes but USAF dumped lots of them some years
ago due to being gas guzzling turbo props and stuck with their C-12's for routine pax work but kept some for SOCOM ops guys like in Hurlburt and Cannon.
They were tough to get overseas like in Afghan theatre as had to airport hop across Maine,Goose Bay,Iceland etc so took about
2 weeks to get 4 of them into theatre and also required a HC-130 type Rescue escort across the pond in case one ditched.
I can see why they might like this new A-1 Air Tractor as can remove wings and shove at least 3 of them in a C-17 and away you go.
Not as comfy as PC-12 but has more bite! LOL

A very nice catch, this is one of the Atlantic boom frequencies, not monitored in 8 years or so ....
They probably didn't change to their CONUS one, and yes they were on VHF frequencies all the way down to Shaw.
Nica catch indeed!

Rene, just looking through my Coronet records for 258.0 as I knew I had logged it before. Last logged here three times in 2020. Was used quite a bit in 2019 and every year back to 2013 when I added it to my scanner. Keep that freq in Mark as you may catch it again!

BLUE-81 KC-46 #18-46053 departed Pease enroute EGUN. Not sure if dragging someone.
On Moncton says will deviate West due to wx and then continue Altrav.

NATION-11 KC-135 out of MacDill I think headed for A/R with WANDA-39 RC-135 #62-4139

Yeah Frank those Winged Dodge/Plymouths worked too good as Nascar banned them after Richard Petty
dominated that one year I think was 1970.
Rgr Mark,

Caught that BLUE 81 flight on recordings this morning. Here's the log:
1216z 378.200 BLUE 81 and RETRO 31,32 on boom freq discussing cruising and refueling speeds. Prepared for first AR near the end of my reception.
1233z 246.800 RETRO 31 and 32 A-A talking about divert airports and waypoints, etc.

If you start one, I'll monitor it, although info flow on this group seems pretty good. Am hopefully heading down there 8/22 & 8/23 to chase planes, ships & tugboats. Hoping to develop a feel for a 'typical' ATC freq sequence at Oceana, among other things. Here in Richmond, I'm right at the fading range for most of the approach stuff, but can sometimes luck out with Langley Tower if the planes are high enough.

Looking forward to following some individual flights for better understanding. I really miss having the Air Guard here in Richmond!

73/Allen (N4JRI)
Oceana freq flow generally follows the preset plan:

01 254.400 Oceana Clearance
02 336.400 Oceana Ground
03 360.200 Oceana Tower
04 288.300 Oceana Departure
05 266.800 Oceana Approach
06 361.300 Giantkiller W-72
07 323.050 Oceana Arrival
08 357.400 W-72 Air 1A/B
09 289.900 W-72 Air 1C/D/E/F
10 355.100 W-72 Air 2A/B (TACTS North)
11 253.200 W-72 Air 3A/B (TACTS South)
12 363.125 Norfolk Approach
13 238.100 Giantkiller W-386
14 251.600 Giantkiller W-122/Hatteras B MOA
15 358.800 Navy Dare Range
16 269.800 NALF Fentress
17 284.900 Oceana Base Ops
18 323.000 ZDC
19 317.600 Oceana ATIS
20 (various) Squadron Base
