Surprise unannounced guest star at today's Atlantic City Airshow practice day, a German Luftwaffe Airbus A400. I was just parking and getting my gear together for the hike to the beach when he made his first pass. I just took a quick glance and thought, "Oh, C-17..." Next glance: "Hey - props!" I've only seen one of these at 20-30K or so overhead so it was cool to get a better look, though I was still a couple thousand feet from the flight line. Looking forward to closer shots tomorrow...
That weather looked a little sporty for their arrival.

1515 local had what sounded like SEARCH-01 climbing to FL470 with ZDC ultra high 353.950.
He is having trouble getting ZDC on UHF early so readback of 121.375 ZDC Norfolk but right back to UHF a minute later
and heard on same UHF at 1523 local so assume Northbound.

Norwegian P-8 9585 hex 4781A0 out of PAX on the Chambersburg PA - Martinsburg WV circle this evening --
Noise won't be a problem with this one as we have family visiting and they will easily drown it out

DECOY-99, a C-17 from KMRB, just ran low level (terrain avoidance) flight over my house. Loud, especially when he turns OVER the house. Ordinarily they turn just past the house, level with the windows.
Are they on any local range freqs or just ATC?
They check out of KMRB with the tower and go VFR local. They are on a published route. I have several likely freqs for them but never hear anything. ADS-B is sketchy here in the mountains at low level. I really don’t know they’re coming til there’s a lot of jet noise outside suddenly. And in ten seconds they’re gone. Sound of freedom…

Probably POTUS arrival, he is supposed to go to Camp David Thursday, on Friday President Biden is scheduled to host President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea and Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan at the Camp David Trilateral Summit.

Looks like the times just changed for NASA-817. 1:12 departure, 2:19 Trenton arrival. I may try to see the flybys in Atlantic City, then cross the state to catch 817, having shot Thunderbirds yesterday...

Timing-wise it's not feasible to see AC flybys and then get to Trenton to see the NASA flight. So I think I'm going for the DC-8 - the AEROMMA program ends on Friday so this could well be my only shot at seeing this aircraft and at low altitude. FlightAware and RadarBox are now in agreement with a 2:19 Trenton pass so here's hoping
@TerryPavlick will your amazing milair feed be up today and tomorrow for the airshow !? Thanks in advance
