The cable is only used to program the scanner using the computer. And the talkgroup number is the MOT#. You would have to check the database here for frequencies, or use the scanner in search mode to find differnet frequencies not listed.memph33777 said:is the talkgroup number the vc# or the mot #? i think it is the mot # cause i see special events 17968. thats close to the fair talkgroup mentioned. and thomas i went to radio shack to get the data cable but they have to order it. when i get it will it tell me like frequencies at the casino etc if i am down there?????
No it will not. You only have 10 banks to program systems in. You'll be doing good to use only half the banks. The scanner doesn't automatically switch between systems. If you travel, you'll have to add those systems in. You can use the V-Folder system, and have basically 10 scanners in one, just switch between the different folders as you travel.memph33777 said:once i program my scanner with the computer will it be programmed for the whole country? e.g. when i travel to other areas will my scanner pick up automatically when i travel?
