Can anyone else hear people with middle eastern accents talking on 452.150 in Fairfax County? I could even hear it in Washington DC, loud and clear.

Odd, they were talking about flying and reading out numbers. What's even odder is that it can be heard from Mclean to DC. Surely, a handheld radio couldn't reach that far.

He's DFQ at my house in NW DC. Sounds like a taxi service. Continuous calls for different addresses, and far too many for any kind of service company but typical of what you'll hear on any taxi channel.

That is what I thought. I believe this is the frequency for the dispatcher. Does anyone know the frequency for the taxi cabs themselves?

WQIM238 Silvercab running a 250 watt erp repeater...

From multiple sources I've put together a short abstract of freqs. My notes for Taxicabs is
152.270/157.530 to 152.465/157.725 with 15kHz spacing
452.050/457.050 to 452.500/457.500 at 0.050 spacing ,
plus 452.225/457.225 452.275/457.275

So 452.150 would be a fairly common base freq, the one where the dispatcher transmits. 457.150 would be the freq if you want to hear the taxicab drivers. The most common system for taxis is separate transmit freqs for the dispatcher and the drivers, similar to a standard repeater system except the drivers aren't repeated on the dispatchers freq.

I think taxi services are required to have mobile/base separate. Yellow cab here figured out years ago that the drivers had scanners and went to voice inversion on the base.

The GenOn license came up in the RR database FCC search for VA. I didn't search MD.

Found this on the database:

DCX INCORPORATED 452.15000000 KGA818 A WASHINGTON IG
SILVER CAB OF PG INC 452.15000000 WQIM238 A WASHINGTON IG
LAO 452.15000000 KGA818 A WASHINGTON IG
FEDERAL LICENSING, INC. 452.15000000 WQIM238 A WASHINGTON IG

It could be Silver Cab of PG Inc., judging by the content of the transmissions. DCX is also
listed as a cab company. I'm glad I found this; now I can turn their annoying signal off on my
Icom 208. The dispatchers sound as if they're ten feet from the microphone in a really "live"
room.

Hey Bill, yeah, we only have 2 real cab companies here. Yellow cab still uses the traditional radio dispatch. I still get shakey when I see them because I installed and fixed many of their beat up old radios in their beat up old cars back in the early 80's.

The only other company, besides a handful of small owner/operators, just uses cell phones.

Good to hear from you Bill, I'm set to take another cruise this winter/spring in ZL/VK land on Holland America, can't wait! Guess I'll be taking a taxi to the airport too, wanna guess which one?
