Hello Idaho! I'm looking for any Mil-Air freq's That I can receive here in the Treasure Valley. I have loads of freq's entered into my Pro-97 but I haven't had any luck. Except once when I saw a couple of A-10's circling, I heard some pilot to pilot chatter. Buts thats all I've heard in about a year and a half! Any help would be & will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

To be more successful in the milair game, an external antenna is almost a must. Something along a discone or scantenna, mounted nice and high, with good coax (no I don't mean that junk RS sells...).

Most duckies are great for stuff nearby, but fall short when you try to do anything that's a good distance away

Now for additional freqs - I'd look at the UHF ARTCC freqs for Salt Lake City and Seattle (depending on where you are...). Unfortunately the info in our database is pretty dated, so a question in the Washington and Utah forums might be in order, but here are the links to our database...(always ignore the FAA listings- they're frequently out of date...)

The IdaScan and NWScan Yahoo groups might also be a source of info. They're linked here...

Hey thanks for all your replies. I will try and utilize them all! And especially the info from ka3jjz. You seem to come thru for me a lot! LOL And I appreciate all your information. I've been thinking along the lines of adding an external antenna and been trying to figure out the best location for it. So I guess it's time to start studying up on the subject. Which one would you suggest the discone or Scantenna? Again thanks all for all your help.
