I have never done Mil Air, (or any air for that matter), but would like to try it with my BC200XLT.....
I wanted to know if I would need any special antenna since the planes are so far up in the air?
I also have a BC780XLT that I could use for this........if would work better?
I live near Homestead Airforce base, n was wondering what parameters to scan?
Thanks in advance

Mil Air in South Fl.

I'm getting back into civ/milair scanning since it seems to be the only predictable service not rebanding, narrowbanding, going digital, encrypting & everything else bad for us scannerheads, you have two good scanners for monitoring, the 780 will also scan milair, you will get tons of advice so get ready but to get you started go to the FL database & glean all the frequencies for south Florida airports & MIA ARTCC, then go to the site listed below to get more frequencies for the airports in your area, when you have time go to the WIKI, follow the prompts for US/Canadian common frequencies then click on "aviation" on the alphabetical menu & familiarize yourself with the different bands & frequencies for the different aviation allocated services, happy hunting.

Many consider the BC780XLT among the best there is for MILAIR so you're off to a great start there. The fact they are "are so far up in the air" makes them easier to receive on pretty much any decent antenna, not harder.

Note some of those freqs may be outdated as I've recently discovered

Also can use this to see if any MOAs or SUAs near you are "hot"
