Last week and so far this week, I have been hearing lots of Mil-Air traffic talking to Cerry point Appr on 119.750, and Giant Killer and the flights speak of an excercise and of them being from 'USS Ship'. Last night there was a flight of 4 F-15E that were surprised to see a carrier strike group working the Phelps MOA. :)

Has anyone else in the area heard any of this or have any info on the excercise.

I know they've got a big Navy JTFEX going off the coast right now. I don't know exactly where the groups hang during an ex like that on the East coast. It usually creates quite a bit of traffic on inland ranges though, with multiple strike packages per day.

Yea, Navy Dare and Air Force Dare have been busy all day and night up til about 2300 local. I have also heard several COD (Carrier On-Board Delivery) planes each day, which is unusual for me.

Ships are mostly in the W-122 area. We got 2 strike packages into Pinecastle range yesterday.

Right on, nice timing for vacation.

Thanks for the Air-Air, I don't have that in my list, but may be to far away anyway.

268.7000 is also Cherry Point App
337.225 is also Giant Killer

I logged
251.600 at 0921 - Giant Killer, could be a feet wet/dry report
238.900 at 0938 - Giant Killer, could be Air Refuel
249.800 at 0939 - Giant Killer

Hi guys,

Since I'm a BIT out of VHF range I'm listening on 6694, in late afternoon to evening propagation into NJ is fairly strong with constant chatter.

Cool, 6694 is active this morning too. Man, they sound good. Now that's what radio comm should sound like!

I'm glad I stapled that antenna wire to the fence Wednesday.

EDIT: 6694 was busy all day, I had it on the ham rig in the truck. Couldn't hear the weaker stations but could hear enough. Lots of aircraft chatter, re-fueling, civillian aircraft, etc.

Bandsaw E-3B was quite active all day with Bravo Whiskey on 6694. Copied some traffic regarding subsurface tracking activities and lots of "splash" comments as well. Copied some refueling on 266.4 and some additional chatter of unknown origin or activity on 140.4 FM and 142.175 AM. Lots of what I would think is typical traffic on 251.6 and 268.7.

I monitored 6694 last night and this AM, seems like quite an exercise they have going on. Talk of friendlies, civillion aircraft, splashes and kills. I'd bet the Russian Embassy in DC is listening too. "Comrade, what is this Texaco they keep referring to?"

I'm going to record some when I leave for work and listen later.

There was some activity on 6694 in the AM but didn't hear anything last night in a short time of monitoring. Propagation seemed to be going out in the morning. Maybe another freq? or else the show was over.

Which is this Monday coming.

Re: TEXACO - if that was a serious question, TEXACO is a NATO code word for an AAR tanker... but I suspect you knew that anyway.
