Ok last month I purchased a pro96 last week I purchased the pro95,I would have purchased the pro94 but the guy at ratshack said the only difference between 94and 95 was the alpha tag so I went ahead and purchased the pro95 .I get home and find theres no milair.I looked at the website and the 94 and 97 have the milair.Does anyone know what one is better for scanning these frequencys or will the pro96 do about the same with the extended frequency open.Wondering if Ill get any better results with a 94 or 97.
Also I just noticed That there is no program for the pro94 or the pro97
on http://www.starrsoft.com/
Will there be a starsoft program comeing out for these?
Approx date of release if one at all.

Is this product worth buying if I get the 97 or 94

Is the sensitivity any different ? can I change the steps.Seems the 96 wont let me change the steps it skips to the next or closest valid frequency.

The Pro97 has MilAir but the Pro94 does not. Does anybody know if the Pro94 can be programmed or modified to receive MilAir freqencies?

I went with the Pro94 over the Pro95 because of the design. It looked sleeker and I don't necessarily care for Alpha Text. My Pro94 says that it IS programable via computer and has the jack, though another forum topic indicated that it wasn't.

There are actually 3 versions of the PRO94; the original, a PRO94A, and a newer one that appeared sometime last year. The newest version is programmable, and I THINK Scancat Lite Plus can handle it.

Even with this, I wouldn't waste my time on milair on the PRO96 or anything older. You might be able to unlock that range with software, but the fact is that they were never designed with this range in mind; therefore, at least for the PRO96, one radio might perform acceptably, the next one not so well. The older PRO models - 92, 93, 95 and their mobile equivalents - appear to perform very poorly, an example of which is shown on Don Starr's website. I would think the 94 would also fall into this category.

Bottom line - let's wait and see how the 97 does on milair. There is a Yahoo group devoted to the scanner at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PRO-97/

and I think there's a sticky on the Radio Shack forum on this board for this scanner.

I have no trouble at all picking up milair on my Pro96. I have a 2004, 2006, and two BC895 dedicated to milair. When I hear the students up practicing formation flying I go out on my porch with my Pro96 and my AR8200. The frequencies tha I have the Pro96 watching come in just as good as the others.

Now the Pro95 I have is a different matter. I have to be within a few mles of planes to hear them. Since I am only 7 miles from Randolph AFB I pick up a lot even with the Pro95. Randolph must be the busiest AFB base in the country. Non-stop all day, if it's not raining.
