Is there much traffic in WV with Milair and I don't think my Pro 2096 can get some of that traffic? What about my 296D?

If the 2096 can hear 138-144 mhz in AM mode, then it could be used for that, and certainly the 296 can be used for milair stuff. In the Maryland Sticky Thread for milair, there's one gentleman who is using a 396 with a Diamond discone. He lives in Berkeley county - I'm not all that familiar with WV, so where that is in relation to you I don't know. I suspect that with a good outdoor antenna, fed with the right coax, you ought to be able to hear much of the same stuff he does.

One other thing - the 2096 cannot log and record - it's due to firmware limits. With the 296, it certainly can, using the right software (such as ARC250 Pro, ProScan, ect.)

With an outdoor antenna feeding a good grade of coax I agree with Mike and Mike (above) that you should be able to copy milair activity. You location in Fayetteville is close to several aerial refueling tracks (455, 315, 203, and 328). Check the ECNA AAR Tracks entry in the wiki linked HERE and enter both the primary & the secondary freqs listed for the 4 AR tracks I listed above. You should also be able to hear chatter from the C-130's of the 130th AW WV-ANG based at Charleston. You're in a prime location to monitor traffic whenever the President or Vice-President attends something at The Greenbrier. From my location near Martinsburg I have copied the E-3 Sentry AWACS that is in attendance whenever he is there. Some of the freqs in THIS WIKI ENTRY might be copied from your location also.
