sorry i do appoligieze i was gonna ask how you knew the callsigns big master list somewhere ?
I,am rather interested in mil-air but also very new to it but not scanners or recievers , I actually Bought a reciever for the sole purpose of mil air a Signal comms R-535 however my good computer is upstairs
wife kids use it or i game on it some so i use my laptop down stairs which has been a struggle to get it to record right I use a very high end audio editing program that has nice vox feature however i have come to notice when i turn on the flourescent lights the radio continues to scan but the vox will start recording static ,cheap audio patch cable or cheap $600 laptop hp pavillion Dv6000 .

I guess i did not listen close enough i tried a pair of pretty good sony earbuds still sounds like liberal to me but cheap sound card in laptop , I drive truck and am on the road now .

My home system has a X-fi Fatal1ty card in it anyways i have some akg headphones will try using them more and listening closer. Sorry .

Any suggestion on 3.5mm patch cords are their good shielded ones out their ? or do i need a different light fixture LOL

I actually record with my scanner (Icom IC-R20), which has a feature built in, then transfer it to my computer with a 1/8" audio cable. The shielding might not help very well; your best bet may be to use something simpler and see if it is the scanner picking up interference or the computer. I import my files with Audacity (which is a free program); that might be a good option to try out.

As for callsigns, this is one of the better resources, especially since it's updated frequently:

I get the same ground loops problem with 2 out of 3 scanners both if plugged in to A/C give my big time noise, my Pro 160 works ok you can see the noise but not as bad as the other units. If I run on battery power no noise at all so something is messed up in the house wiring or I am getting a loop from all of the computers, printers, modems, routers, amps and UPS units.

Watchman with several EAMs on 311.000 and 323.800. First broadcast about 3:06 PM local, second broadcast about 4:41 PM local.
I didn't catch all of the first broadcast but think it was different than the second.

Haven't been listening for a while, but tonight caught BULLDOG flight out of DSM trying to rendezvous with some other flight, then when they couldn't join up (I think because of weather) said they were going to CRYPT for some 1 on 1. I think 138.200, but was on the other side of the room when it was all mentioned. Also heard a neat thing on DSM Approach, a little girl say "Hi Dad", and someone answering "Hi [name]". Maybe a pilot flying into DSM and daughter in the tower? Didn't catch the call signs.

Again tonight caught the IA ANG, this time coming back to KDSM. Heard them on the VHF frequencies, though, approach on 118.3, instead of the UHF frequencies. I was under the impression that military aircraft, especially fighters, talked exclusively on UHF, with the airports simulcasting on both. Any insight? I think this is the first time I've heard a HAWKEYE flight on VHF. I heard them on MSP center on VHF, then approach VHF, and then tower VHF.

I would say that i hear them a little more on VHF an UHF. They do a lot of chit- chat on way to the Volk moa on VHF.
I don't think we can say that fighters exclusively use UHF.
About simulcasting, I'm not real sure myself but i think its more to keep civilian and military aware of other traffic in the area.

Here is a list of VHF and UHF for the IA ANG

I have an error on my last post. TETOX should be DETOX
