May seem like a dumb question, but hey they do not exist. LoL. Does living by lets say Pensacola provide regular and interesting listening due to training?

Not sure about Pensacola specifically, since I am in Canada, but anywhere near a major airbase(spent time in Cold Lake and Comox, 2 Canadian bases) will usually get some good coms if you have a capable scanner. I actually had a friend years ago from online gaming from Pensacola and would hear the jets going over his place on voice chat lol, pretty sure its still very active there.

As noted above a lot of activity in the Florida panhandle & bases in the general area.

Depending on exactly the scanning location you would get Pensacola NAS and the training activities for US Navy and Coast Guard has helo training on base as well. Lots of training & Blue Angles are home-based at the NAS. If you are more east Hurburt Field (USAF Special OPS Hq) and of course Eglin AFB which does a lot of different things (Army Ranger Training on north base areas) so put in VHF low/high bands, trucked systems and Mil-Air and the few Air Refueling Tracks too.

US Coast Guard VHF channels 9 - 16- 22, etc, are always good, although traffic is sparse at times. The "watch / guard" on Channel 16 being most importance,

Occasional test / exercises over the Gulf of Mexico (see NOTAMS and Special Use Airspace (SUA) sites for better details and MOA's...
When I was at Ft. Walton (near Eglin) I had a good scanning experience and sometimes at night when the AC-130's from Hurburt involved in exercises, etc...

It all depends on the location as you will need a good antenna up in the air and hope it works.
