Mile High Hook & Ladder Fire Apparatus Muster!

Hey everyone!
A couple of you probably know about the Mile High Hook & Ladder Fire Truck show and Muster held on Saturday, June 18th. It is the 20th annual parade and muster and there will be a world record attempt at the worlds longest fire apparatus parade! The event is from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Admission is free for everyone. There will be Firefighting games, Truck pulls, Pumping Demonstrations, Extrication with two vehicles, Flight For Life "Chopper-go", Fire Safety exhibits and so much more! The parade starts at 9:00am at 199 E. Littleton Blvd at Littleton High School and proceeds to the Arapahoe Community College Campus and ends with the show, muster, games, demos, and much more at 5900 S. Santa Fe Blvd. The parade will be moving avout 10-12 mph, so you have enough time to take pictures of a lot of rigs. So far, we are expecting over 100 antique fire apparatus, all which are, or have been, capable of putting out at least one fire. There will also be a show of "In-service" rigs. South metro, West Metro, Littleton, Sable-Altura and a couple of other departments are expected to show. These rigs will be in service at the time and will be running calls near the area of the muster. This should be a very fun event and I hope to see some of you out there! Thanks

I remember several years ago when they used to have it every year at Ralph Schomp in Littleton. Those were some nice parades and I used to videotape them. Will the out-of-district units be running calls too? I hope it is as much fun as it used to be before they stopped having it here? By the way, how can it be the 20th annual one if they haven't had it down here in many years? Do they count the smaller ones in Brighton as annual?

Just my luck . I either have nothing to do on Saturdays, or multiple things. I'll be in Central City for "Lou Bunch" days. I was born in the area, and never miss it. Have fun, and happy monitoring.

No, I don't think that the our of area rigs will be running their calls. Yes, the brighton ones were counted as the annual events as well. There should be a couple of rescues and a haz-mat rig up there and a bunch of other cool rigs. It is supposed to be the best year yet with all of the events planned. We met up at Ralph Schomp honda/BMW last night to plan all of the unplanned things for the muster. Littleton High School is right across the street to the North of Ralph Schomp, so it is very close to there. I am not sure what radio channels we will be using, but I suppose it will be an I-Tac channel. See ya there 8)

Oh my goodness! It was one of the neatest things I have ever been too. They had over 100 pieses of fire apparauts there, new, old, and everything in between. The parade lasted about 30 min. and I myself, along a couple of my other explorers were on the first, and oldest rig in the parade. There were three demos of auto extrication today from mountian view fire, north metro and south metro fire. North metro Jeff. Co Airport fire also did a demo on how an aircraft fire would be taken care of. After the auto extrications were in place, south metro's heavy rescue and an ambulance were called to the scene of where the extrication took place, a fake patient was established and a "chopper-go" was called. Flight For Life showed up about 10 minutes later and showed the crowd how the patient would be taken care of while on scene and everyone was allowed tours of the chopper and all of the other equipment at the muster. Another really fun event, probably my favorite, was the water-ball, which was where the fire cadets went against the real firefighters and it was like playing soccer, except with 1" hose lines. The explorers were 8 time champs of the water ball. We also had the chance to play around with the deck-guns on the new and old fire engines and also the blitzfire. The day was filled with so much more, so if you have any more :?: 's, feel free to ask! On top of all of the enjoyment I got out of attending and working at this event, I got the sunburn from hell

Sounds like a good time. Shame I could not have stayed one more day. But family committments drug we back to KS one day to soon. Well maybe next year.
