Do you want a mobile, base or handheld antenna?

For a base-AT-197/GR Discone

For a Mobile-a simple whip cut to around 300 Mhz quarter wave is good.

For a Handheld radio-The Maldol ALH-500 I think it is.

I am guesstimating that the Hustler SF-220 3/8 x 24 thread mount would do well cut to a much shorter
length than for the 222-225 amateur band would be. For mobile mounting you could use a 3/8 to nmo adapter or for base ops the base ground plane adapter would do well also.

The Maldol AL500 is a great antenna for aircraft. I used it on my Icom R20 and it did make quite a difference
