Hi,

I'm wondering why I'm hearing NJ Law Enforcement using Military Acronyms like "mike." Any ideas?

Mike

It's not being used as a phonetic.

Mike: Minute. As in ”I’ll be there in 5 mikes.”

Well it's phonetic. He is saying he will be there is 5M (minutes) which M is Mike.. But I understand what you are saying.. I have not heard my local police officers use it but I'm sure whomever is using it was probably former military and maybe just caught on in the dept..
