Just heard some Selfridge traffic on the Black Talon and P18 ATAC frequencies. Not sure of the mission, but, guessing it's a training flight. Also heard traffic on the 927th ARW frequency. Any ideas? I am still new to this MilAir thing. I also heard some traffic (didn't catch the channel) but it was an Ohio ANG flight. Sounded like the 180th out of Toledo.

When the 927th left Selfridge, the aircraft were transferred to the 127th. There could have been a transfer of freqs, as the mission stayed same, and the freqs were already allocated to the area. (Or nobody bothered to reprogram the radios.)

If you catch callsigns, that would help narrow down if it is the 127th, or a flight transiting the area.

What frequencies? I believe I have some traffic right now on 273.25 which I think is OHANG A10s.
Additional traffic in the Howard MOA, Cen IL.

225.300 (P18 Air-Air Tac) & 238.900 (fmr 927 ARW), & 234.900 (Black Talon) . My guess is no one bothered reprogramming the radios. I'll pay closer attention and see what they were.

It must be awesome to listen to the local military, right, or is it boring?

municipality of great state of insanity
it's always a letdown when they use the word "notional" in their check-ins.

Really takes all the excitement out of things.

A couple of years ago there was a particular pilot/contractor in my area who made up for it with realistic sound effects:

"HAWG11 inbound with thirty mike mike..."

"BURRRRAPAPAP! BADADDADADADADA! BURRRAAAAPPPPP! BADADADADADADADA!"

"KAAA-BOOOM
!"

"HAWG11, target destroyed!"

While I have no proof, I am certain he was wearing a cowboy hat piloting that Cessna 337.

I miss him.
