Hi from Tampa, folks.

I have a PRC-113/RT 1319 radio i'd like to get checked out. It doesn't seem to receive aircraft as well as i think it should. My frame of reference is bad though, since i used that same type of radio when i was in the army and the aircraft were generally nearby/overhead.

Anyhow, i'm looking for somebody qualified and experienced with cracking open these old Magnavox/Raytheon radios and performing diagnostics, as required.

Anybody know somebody--preferably in Florida--that could perform those checks?

The PRC-113/RT 1319 was intended for short range line-of-sight communications so chances are there's nothing wrong with it. A good antenna mounted high would no doubt help out a lot!

I'd highly recommend this one:

MilTenna Omni UHF/VHF Base Antenna

No answer from Paul yet. Do you have his phone number? I may be ending up in his spam folder.
