I guess these two older Radio Shack models may be satisfactory

Pro-26
Pro-60

You should be able to find them at a reasonable price.

Don't forget the Radio Shack Pro-43. I had one for a long time and it did well. Excellent for flight team monitoring. And everything in between.

thanks to all of you for your suggestions - i just decided today to go ahead and order the bc 250d - heck it is only money - and actually got a brand new one for $279.00 including shipping so i am happy and can't wait to get it.

Good choice. Just curious, did the card come with it for that price or is it by itself? I used to own a 250d and took it to Dayton, OH last year to the airshow and it performed flawlessly.

no - the card is not included at that price - but all the usual stuff came with it plus they threw in a set of headphones - i don't know the quality of the headphones - but it sounded like a decent pair - we will see.
