Nationwide? You won't find them too easily - altho there are various NORAD lists that have been published in MT before, the freqs used by NORAD - and others - vary from area to area. They use a 'pool' of frequencies, and choose some from that pool. You could download the FLIP as given in the military monitoring wiki, or get Grove's directory...but that would still leave you with knowing which freqs are used when. It's better to zero in on a particular area - which you have done. So let's get started...

You can start with the ZNY ARTCC facility

N2NOV's Aero Page (has several Airnav links)
http://www.n2nov.net/nycaero.html

NJ 177th FW ANG wiki page: You will very likely hear them flying up to the Yankee Mil Operations Area (MOA)
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/NJ_ANG_177th_Fighter_Wing

There are some inaccuracies on this next page - mainly due to the fact that the 138mhz freqs he lists as Tankers
we in the Md/DC area have heard F15s here...but some of the freqs listed here are good...
http://hometown.aol.com/jerseymilair/jerseymilair.html

You didn't say anything about what radio/antenna you are using - you will definitely need to get something outside
and in the air - a duckie on a handheld simply won't always cut it.

There doesn't seem to be much interest in milair in the NJ/NYC area - I belong to a couple of milair lists, and
hardly ever see any such logs from that area. Even on the popular ScanCom Yahoo group, which is devoted to that
area. Maybe you can start something

Use the links I gave you - those will be the best bets to get you started in that area. I can't stress this enough - a good antenna will make or break your attempts to hear military stuff. Don't troll - read. 'Nuff said. 73s Mike

[edit] The folks on the NY forum might also be a source of more accurate info. Can't hurt to ask

Not trying to hijack, but I am also looking for some mil freqs. Mainly for the Fort Rucker post as I am going over there this next weekend and would like to have at least the freqs. I already know that they have went digital but cant seem to dig the freqs out anywhere.

TIA
S

P.S. Didnt start another thread due to the fact that this was closely related.

Would be useful if we knew what state Fort Rucker is in - be glad to point you in the right direction if we have something. You did, I assume, check the RRDB and it isn't there?

By going digital, I assume you mean either using P25 on 400 mhz or on the new 380 Mhz band?

Be sure to check the sticky threads on the beginning of this forum - if it's not listed there, or not in the RRDB, we haven't got it. It might pay to put a query out on the Milcom forum at qth.net, in that case.

There are 2 Yahoo groups for Alabama, Phil. It is entirely possible, however, that they're so new that no one even knows they're there and active. It can't hurt to check. The Southern group is much more active than the Northern one...beyond these, and someone on Milcom (highly recommended, by the way - very knowledgable group there), I'm afraid I'm at a loss.

The 2 URLs are...

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/n_alscan/

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/southalabamascan/

Sri I can't be of more help. 73s and GL...Mike
