stateboy said:The old MPD system is still solid as a brick and generally sounds excellent. Nothing beats a well designed and implemented "old school" Micor system. My contact within MPD retired, so I'm not privvy to much anymore but from what I saw of it, the /\/\ system is old but bulletproof.
It's a shame to see it go.

I was just up in Milwaukee last weekend and all the existing UHF repeaters were still squawking. Check any of the current MPD listings and you'll find what you need.

They don't have the UHF radios, only a console or two. The only voice traffic on 453.375 is one way announcments that are recieved on "plectron" recevers at various dispatch centers in the county. I believe that hospitals as well as schools/dist have them as well. It's kind of like the way the NWS uses SAME for weather radios but this is much more specific to govt operations.stateboy said:I thought was being done completely (or simulcast) on 800 so everyone could get rid of the UHF radios...?
