Milwaukee County P25 TRS was rebanded yesterday
Signal for me is a little stronger now on the Milwaukee / Oak Creek border.
Control Channel is 853.2125, and I don't think it ever changes..

Thanks for the info, mkescan. I don't know why this P25 system isn't used more. I almost never hear any thing on it.

I put in the band plan and the new frequency, and the system works. I have no idea when I will hear any thing on it. My scanner is loaded with stuff. So it's hard to get a hit on this system.

Hiya All....

The last I heard was last year. At that time a MCTRS radio administrator said the "big push" to digital was going to happen in 2010, after re-banding occurred.

I remember her saying that the re-banding was going to occur in April, 2010 (Actually occurred 6 months later...not bad for government). Then later in 2010 a general slow migration to the digital system. So maybe will hear more now that both systems have been re-banded.

Another note,

It appears like this system only would have 4 frequencies at the moment since I am hearing data bursts on 853.3250. I presume this is Milw County Transit data.

Maybe the radio administrator will make another appearance on these boards and give us an update. :)

Doubtful, as she is retired. No telling what the new guy will or won't do.

What are the correct rebanded freqs for the P25 system? I need to change them in the DB.

That's what I am wondering too, guess nobody will know until somebody actually uses it.
MCTRS radio administrator also said one freq from the Digital site would be added to analog.
She also said one of the old analog Data freqs will become a voice channel. My guess is 853.550, since radio service was calling 853.0625 "Data"

Some info I found in archives from Milwaukee County TRS administrator.
Milwaukee County P25 system is in use, but with minimal traffic at present time. Most traffic is related to north shore departments.

We have a capital project for 2010 to begin in earnest the P25 migration in Milwaukee County.
The first phase will provide 4 channel, portable street coverage with most likely 4 sites. Our intention is to start at the GMIA area - allowing the Operations staff at GMIA an opportunity to join the 800 mhz system to comply with the narrowbanding mandate.

GMIA Ops have extensive equipment that will require narrowbanding mandate replacement.
The current plan is to construct a P25 site near GMIA and have all departments migrate from VHF/UHF to the P25 800 system to comply with narrowbanding.

I was surprised to hear TG 809 active on Oct. 13 with a radio service test.

After doing a Stalk/Search on the scanner, I found that the P25 Control Channel has revived itself, although there is no traffic except on the frequency shared by the analog TRS. I thought I might revive this thread to ask if anyone knows anything about the status of this system. That "Big Push" that the radio admin said was going to happen a year and some months ago- as relayed by Tim- didn't look like it took on any life. However, since the Control Channel Revived itself, It makes me wonder what is going on.

The control channel has been up for years, and it is not shared with the analog system.
Last I heard was a bunch of money was spent on one of the analog system sites, that had problems or was damaged this year. I wonder if the Public Safety hating county exec made any cuts to this.

Thats interesting, because I have never picked up the control channel to the P25 system, and when I say "shared", I am referring to the fact that some P25 frequencies are also analog TRS frequencies as well. I wonder what the outcome of the system will be. Lets just hope its not another money-sucking black hole project

Likely moving the Greenfield site that suffered damage over the winter from water intrusion...?

Found my message from a good source. Bunch of money was spent during the July 2010 floods to replace analog equipment, that took money away from the P25 project.Source said project is held up somehow, may be because of the money spent on analog, and also Milwaukee County not having much money anymore for things like this.
