I finally have a setup with an 800 Mhz antenna and amplifier to receive this site with an RSSI of -60 dBm. This has got to be the quietest site ever. I have been monitoring for days in search mode. The only regular users are Minerva Police and Sandy Creek Fire. I see occasional affiliations from EMT Ambulance and Carroll County Sheriff (Both Encrypted) as well as OSP and ODOT. I know this tower was only added to improve coverage in that area but I would have expected more users.

What other users would you have expected to hear there? There is nobody else over in MInerva other than MPD, SCJFD, ODOT, OSP, EMT and CCSO. I think you are lucky enough to hear that much on it.

It’s very possible that the radios in question are intentionally configured to avoid that site unless every other site is less than a defined RSSI, thus making it a site of last resort to fill specific coverage gaps but not become heavily utilized.

But once a single radio goes there you’ll hear the whole trunk-group. Can you hear the other towers? If so, forget that one?

It is a stand-alone tower so it's traffic is not repeated on the Stark simulcast by default. I scan it primarily to hear Sandy Creek Fire. However, they affiliate with Stark Simulcast every time one of their ems units transports to a Canton or Alliance hospital.

Oh that’s interesting. So if a PD unit that is primarily on that tower goes up to say Summit jail it doesn’t affiliate? I’m too far north to hear those.

Their units do affiliate when they leave the acceptable range of that tower just like any other MARCS user. I just wish this tower was one of the Stark simulcast so I could hear them 100% of the time of the tower that is almost in my back yard.
