Iwas wondering if the Ministry Of Corrections will be moving to the Bell Fleetnet System zone 1 in the future, I have listened to the frequencies below in this post and have not had any luck in the Fort Erie area hearing anything on these frequencies.

No but I understand they travel to court houses in my area and I realy don't know if I would be able to receive them from my home, my question was are they or will they be going to the new Fleetnet system, I am looking for information on that subject if any one has any information it would be helpful. I would think I would have no problem picking them up on the Fleetnet System.

Not only in Zone 1 , but eventually all 5 zones.

The documentation shows that the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services is one of the partners in the Government Mobile
Communication Project (GMCP)

One thing we notice with Fleetnet is that it progresses in baby steps.
Be nice if things could get wrapped up before the next election. :lol:

Thanks for the information, look forward to some other partners to listen to, it's great to receive all the ambulances and hospitals from all over the niagara region on the Niagara Falls Tower and Welland tower, alot clearer audio than the other frequencies I had to listen to before.

Does Corrections handle prisoner transfers? Here in Hamilton the prisoner transfers between the Barton jail and the Sopinka Courthouse downtown are handled by the local police. I've heard and seen OPP prisoner transport vehicles stop by that courthouse, too.

Does anyone know the procedure for out-of-town prisoner transfers? I thought Corrections is only responsible for in-house (in-big-house?) stuff and don't 'go on the road' with prisoners, so to speak.

Hi Mike, I can tell you and you may no this already that when I was able to listen to Niagara Regional Police before they went encrypted, for years they always transfered their prisoners to the court houses in this area, Niagara Falls, Welland, Port Colborne, St. Catharines and so on. Also I think the OPP used to do the same thing. It would be nice if the Ministry of Corrections took this over, but your no dout right they the Ministry of Corrections take care of whats happening in the Jails and holding facilities.

Good question.

My only guess is to be interoperable (there's that buzzword again) with other Ministry of the Solicitor General agencies.

Their operations have always been on UHF with the VHF simplex channel used for contacting vehicles when they are out of the facility. I would guess that this channel would be moved over to Fleetnet. I would guess that the facilities themselves would stay UHF however they might rebroadcast on a Fleetnet talkgroup that the mobile might sit on.

This is all pure speculation and conjecture though. We'll have to wait and see.

It is indeed the local police or the opp depending on the area. In the gta they have a special constable court officer for this, "wagons" or transport can be heard on the tg for 51/53 div.I believe the jails use LPUs ( don't know if that is the correct term) for in house communications.

OPP have taken all prisoner transfer duties from Waterloo Regional PD, I saw their Ford F-550 Paddy Wagon for auction at M.R. Jutzi auction a while back. It was my understanding that OPP where going to be doing all prisoner transfers between court and jails? I hear most prisoner transfer comms on TG 8896 1GTR.
