The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello I just got a pager cradle for a Minitor 5 and I am trying to get it to work on Windows 10 but running into issues.

On the paper I got with it, it says to go to this website and install the driver.
https://www.pyramidtimesystems.com/...cal_Downloads/Win_Driver_Prolific_3_2_0_0.exe

So I did and still doesn’t work. This is what it shows on my screen.

So just seeing what I have to do to get it to work.

let me know

thanks

No it’s not a Motorola cradle. I got it off EBay, someone who just changed it from a charger to a programming cradle.

I believe your problem is that you have an older PL2303HXA chipset cable that is not compatible with the latest driver for Windows 10 that you currently have installed on your computer (driver 3.8.39.0 dated 01-08-2021 per your screen shot). The solution is to roll back the driver to one that is compatible with your chipset.

I have run into this same exact problem with an older Uniden USB-1 scanner programming cable (circa 2009) that has an older Prolific PL-2303XA/HXA chipset in it. It won't run in Windows 10 with the latest Prolific driver. After I manually roll back the driver the cable works perfectly in Windows 10. Just keep in mind that Windows 10 likes to automatically update your drivers for you so you may have to manually roll back your driver again in the future to keep things working with your Minitor 5 pager cradle. This situation especially tends to happen when you update your Windows 10 operating system to a newer version of Windows 10.

Ok will give that a try and see if that works. And by doing this, it won’t effect any other USB cable I happen to plug in like stopping them from working or whatever, this is just for my Minitor 5 cradle only.

Ok so try this one instead of the one I posted in my first post of the driver. Or should that one work as well what I posted in my first post.
As I stated in my post above, the driver version that you installed on your computer will not work with your older PL2303HXA chipset cable (as shown in your screen shot). That's why you are getting the error message that says "PL2303HXA PHASED OUT SINCE 2012. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER."

The driver link that I provided is for a PL2303HXA "legacy" driver zip file that should work with your older HXA chipset cable. After installing the older driver on your Windows 10 computer you simply click on "Roll Back Driver" (as shown in the first screen shot that you posted above) and select the older driver from the list (instead of the version 3.8.39.0 driver with a date of 01-08-2021 that is currently installed).

If you need step-by-step instructions on how to rollback your Prolific PL2303HXA driver, go to this web page and follow the instructions for "Solution 2: Roll your Prolific USB to Serial driver back to an older version": Solved: Prolific USB to Serial Driver Windows 10 Not Working - Driver Easy

Ok will give it a try and when I do this, it shouldn’t effect any other USB things I plug in and use, everything else will stay the same and work like it has and this driver is only for the pager cradle only.

when you use the device manager to roll back the driver version, you are selecting the com port and specific device. It won’t affect anything else.

And Win 10 will eventually roll the driver version forward again. It mindlessly wants your pc to use the latest version of the driver. Just roll it back again

Do you own research. This issue is well documented going back several years. Search here on “prolific driver” without the quotes. You’ll find a number of threads containing all the specifics.

FWIW, this was never a Motorola issue. It’s purely a Win 10/Prolific conflict.

People have given you good advice; follow it
