• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I received Motorola Field Service Bulletin FSB10884 from my system operator. It says resolution should be by end of July 2014. Has anyone heard anything about this? Was it resolved? I don't think this was the same issue as the previous issue with non-standard A tones solved with a firmware update.

Are they going to make a case for the Amp charger so I can carry that on my belt? ;)

I found a firmware upgrade kit R01.05 yesterday for this issue and loaded into my (6) pagers. Haven't had a chance to test yet. But the supposed fix is on MOL. Dated July 21, 2014. Hope that helps.

Still having issues missing some alerts and problems with the battery getting stuck in the pager. I have not heard the "all clear" from the county nor have I heard any official resolution from them.

8 Switch positions! My guys can't keep 4 straight!

I gave up and bought a G1...

Way too complicated (and expensive) for my FFs. Plus Unification is the same company that built the Minitor 5 that we've been having so many issues with.

My dept is trying a WatchDog LT. It's very similar in operation to a M5 but has a few benefits and they're almost $100 cheaper than I was paying Motorola.

The regular watchdog pagers our department had some serious qa problems with, screens going out, stored voice making a recording over a recording and not erasing the old one, case quality issues, but it might have just been the batch. The G1 I have had no problems with and you can lock out and customize the menu so nothing can be accessed or changed, except by using your mode selection knob. Receive quality and build quality are excellent.

No problems with the WatchDog. No screen on this model and the recording works fine.
