• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all.

I am wanting to find out if there's any input from all of you on this. I have tried Google but haven't been able to narrow down the problem. Does anyone familiar with Minitor 3's and 4's know of any problem of not alerting for particular tones? I have both a Minitor 3 & 4, VHF programmed to 154.415, and it alerts for all the other tones I program into it but the 2 stations that have the first tone (A tone) starting with 349.0-389.0 Hz it never alerts for, but for the stations tones from 553.9 Hz all the way to 1433 Hz it alerts just fine... Anyone else know of Minitor 3 or 4's not alerting for tones within the 300-400 Hz range? Thanks all!

I am rusty on the technical service bulletin, but I recall early on in the Minitor III series there was a problem with reliable alerting below a certain frequency, which I think was 350 hz.
Also, the IIIs and IVs are wide-band only pagers, so, unless your dispatch channel has a FCC waiver, it is transmitting narrowband and may not provide sufficient deviation to alert your pager. If the page is important, I would upgrade to a narrowband capable pager.

Well the rest of the stations alert fine it's just the ones with under 400 Hz. Everyone else has minitor 5's but I tried to do it cheaply with a Minitor 4.

If it doesn't open and causes you to miss runs, it's not cheap. Just saying. We had good luck with the III's and IV's, less so with the V's so your issue is kind of in reverse to ours, sorry, no suggestions. My point is, whatever you use, if it doesn't open and alert reliably, it's a paperweight.
