• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

On my minitor IV pager I have one of the switch positions set to scan both frequencies. However, sometimes after a transmission the pager won't close the squelch leaving me to listen to static unless I tap the reset button.

The pager doesn't always do this however. Some times the squelch will close after a transmission and sometimes it will not. I tried upping the squelch from 8 to 9 in the programming software, but that did not seem to effect anything. Should I increase the squelch even more or is there something else that could be causing this?

Nope you don't need to adjust the squelch, you can put the squelch level at 4 or where ever you want.

If you want that OPEN squelch to go away by itself after every page call. In the software under the MODEL OPTION tab, above the squelch level you will see it says: RESET FUNCTION, set that to AUTOMATIC, and after you do this just reload the pager and you should be all set to go. And what this does, instead of having it set to MANUAL, where you have to push the reset button on the side of the pager to stop that open squelch from staying open after every page call you get. Automatic does it by itself. It resets the pager all by itself, so once the page call is done that open squelch will go away right after the page call is done.

So if you do this. That should help you get rid of that open squelch you get after every page call.

Hope this helps.

That's not what I'm having trouble with. The problem I have with the squelch is when I am scanning BOTH frequencies and I can hear all traffic on both channels. The pager is not muted waiting for the tones. The pager won't always resquelch after a transmission, not a page.

I currently have my pager programmed to reset automatically back into select-call mode after a page. I haven't had an issue with the pager not resquelching after a page, except the occasional 3-4 second squelch trail deep inside buildings where I get poor reception.

The only time I have problems with the squelch is when I'm scanning both frequencies and I can hear everything on both frequencies.

Mine has done the same thing for over a year. It's been in the shop twice so far, so I just deal with it.
Switch it from alert to vibrate and back again. it usually quits then.

I just push the reset button and that resquelches it until the next transmission.

I am having the same issue, with my MIN 4, that only has a F1 lowband 1channel. When I'm scanning or monitoring my F1 open channel, it doesn't cIose after the transmission. Its a fairly busy frequency, with a fair amount of radio traffic. So for me, to keep pressing the reset button every time, is a lot. I know it has been a little while since this tread has started and I didn't know if someone has come up with any suggestions. Thank
