To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

On the General tab, what is your selected tone system?

On the Function Switches tab, what is your ON/OFF Duty set for? If it is ON, then on the Channel F1 tab, what is the Duty setting for each tone pair?

I have attached the printout from PPS of the pagers settings. F2 settings are default I think, I didn't put that info in. right now i'm focused on getting F1 working correctly. under F1 the first set is my squads duty tones and the second set are the backup tones. last night it went off (alerted) for the second set but not for the first and I know there were several duty calls.

after I get F1 working I want to setup F2 for my fire department. currently I have a minitor II from them. the reeds are right to left 1232.0 643.0 834.0. assuming they are ABC respectively. what coding should I use there?

thanks again for the help.

First thing's first...are you sure the tones for your CALL 1 are correct?

Second, you have your squelch pretty high. I think I have mine on 4.

Yes I confirmed The tone codes are correct. I didn't adjuhst the squelch. I will set it to 4 and see if that makes a difference. Althought when monitoring the audio is good.

do they send out you 1st set using the same timing and are the 2 tones in the correct order? if the timing is set incorrectly or the tone orders is reversed it won't work.

I've seen this issue several times on the minitor series of pagers .. on the tab "general tab" change the tone system from Motorola .. to USER.. there is a software issue of some kind in the Motorola setting ..
when you enter your tones on the Channel F1 tab if you enter say your tones of

Call 1 - 288.5 and 422.1
under the user setting it may want to automatically change the numbers to say
Call1 - 288.7 and 422.2 (or some other numbers that are extremely close)

It may or may not happen and if it does .. just let it happen it will make not difference either way
Try that enter your tones and all the other info as you have it .. just change from Motorola to User !!

Give it a shot and let us know ..

Thanks !
