If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi Everyone!

I'm programming several Minitor III/IV's.... Under the Reset Function, I have several options: Manual, Timeout, Revert N, Automatic, Delayed N, and Revert. What does "revert" and "revert N" do?

Thanks
Mike

This is out of the help file in the Windows PPS,

Reset Function
This field sets the method to reset the audio. There are 5 methods, depending on the model.
1 - Auto RESET: Resets the audio when carrier drops.
2 - Delay N sec Auto Reset: Waits N seconds before checking carrier drop.
3 - Revert SQ: Reverts to Monitor Mode after receiving a SelCall page.
4 - Manual RESET: Resets the audio only when the Reset Switch is depressed.
5 - Time-out RESET: Resets after a selected amount of time only.
6 - Delay AUTO_N with Revert: Wait N seconds and then behave as monitor mode until reset button is pushed.

Note how they said "5 methods", amazing......

This is by far the most confusing setting on Minitor V pagers with stored voice. (These are the only Minitors I have ever programmed)

The Revert_N function will check carrier drop (the time between the tones finish, and the dispatcher keys up to give the voice portion of the dispatch) for N seconds (whatever you specify) before dropping the record function. After researching, I have found that 15 seconds is most desireable. If the dispatcher keys the mic within 15 seconds of the tones finishing, it will record the whole transmission. If the dispatcher does not key up within 15 seconds, it will finish recording, and all you will get on playback is tones.

Set it to revert on a non stored voice pager, it should work normally. If you set it to revert on a stored voice pager, the pager will probably never record anything. CommJunkie has it right. We set most of our customers to seven seconds.

We are having issues with our stored voice pagers. There is a dealy between the tones dropping and the dispatchers voice. During this dealy time we get open carrier noise. Is there a way to stop this noise?

No, the open squelch is by design.

I am having the same type of trouble. However, with my dispatch, for MABAS calls, they do the tones, then it drops and then they do two more tones before the message. I have tried the revert_N, how ever I believe its still not working because of the drop in between tones. Is there away around this so I still get the message in the stored voice?

You should get the SV message if you set your N time delay longer. It needs to be long enough to bridge the gap from alert to when the dispatch starts.
